Cheesy Appenzeller® Gold Label on extra toast with fried leek and caramalised onion

Ingredients:

  • 2 thick slices of rustic country sourdough bread
  • 1/2 leeks
  • 1 white onion
  • Appenzeller® Gold Label
  • 1 tablespoon brown caster sugar
  • Pepper
  • Salt

Preparation:

  1. Butter the bread. Put the saucepan on the heat and add the leeks that you have cut into rings.
  2. Fry gently, no need to brown them, just sauté them.
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Add 20 g sugar and gently caramelise.
  5. Leave to cool down.
  6. Top bread with alternating layers of Appenzeller® Gold Label, onion, cheese.
  7. Microwave for 15 seconds.
  8. Heat up a frying pan.
  9. Spread a dash of olive oil on it with some paper.
  10. Fry the bread on both sides until golden brown.
